Membership
SWWJ membership is open to professional writers anywhere in the world.
Professional Member
A woman writer who is a bona fide professional worker in literature, drama, journalism or poetry.
Professional Associate Member
A male writer who is a bona fide professional worker in literature, drama, journalism or poetry.
He may participate in all Society activities, but is not eligible to stand for Council.
New Writer
Writers who have some published work or work in progress who have not reached Professional status.
Friends
This membership is available to all persons interested in supporting the work of SWWJ. It also includes all associated professions such as agents, publishers, editors, illustrators, photographers and librarians.
Membership Benefits

The Journal
Published four times a year, The Journal is the Society’s in-house magazine. Contents include members’ news, articles of interest, genre-specific pages, reviews, market and competition information.

Newsletter
To supplement the printed magazine and provide timely information about all Society news and activities, members receive a quarterly newsletter via email.

Press Card
For Professional and Professional Associate Members, the SWWJ press card gives useful access for bona fide copy and research at exhibitions, conferences and events etc. across the country.

Events
Our gatherings in Spring, Summer and Autumn and our Christmas celebration take place in London. They feature guest speakers, prize presentations and networking opportunities.

Workshops
In different genres including journalism, fiction, novels, non-fiction, poetry and drama.

Publishing
SCRIPTORA is the Society’s own assisted-publishing imprint. Manuscripts submitted for publication are subject to a rigorous selection process before acceptance.

Post Nominals
All Professional and Professional Associate members may use the letters MSWWJ after their name.

In-house and Open Competitions
The Society organises competitions in all genres with cash prizes and prestigious trophies.

Manuscript Appraisal Service
Advice and critiques are available across all genres from specialists among the Society members.

Welfare
The Society has a benevolent fund, which offers support to members in times of sickness or special need.
