Founded in 1894, the SWWJ continues to champion creativity and community through workshops, gatherings, and an enduring spirit of literary excellence.
The Society of Women Writers & Journalists is a non-political professional society for women writers and journalists and their associates. Its aim is to uphold the dignity and prestige of the profession of writing in all its aspects. It also aims to promote and protect the interests of its members, to provide meetings for social and informational purposes and improve the status of those engaged in any branches of writing, including such forms as now exist and any that may arise through technological advances.
We recognise the professional skills of our members and we protect their interests in their professional work. We promote opportunities for women to write and to be heard, and we defend their rights to do so no matter what their race, religion or geographic location.
More in-depth information about the Society, and how to join, can be found by navigating the menu at the top of each page.
